Know All About Internship During Law Degree

Internship – broadly defined as “the position of a student or trainee who works in an organization, sometimes without pay, in order to gain work experience or satisfy requirements for a qualification” – has come up as a vital prerequisite for any student pursuing  professional courses anywhere in the world today, be it management or technical or even legal education for that matter.
If we talk of the study of Law in India today, the word “Internship” matters a lot on a Law student’s CV. This is because a student while pursuing his/her Law degree generally dreams of getting an internship with a Big Law firm (Tier-1), and his/ her chances of securing a good job offer at a Big Law firm increases if he/she has been a law intern with that particular firm. Besides, it is much easier to secure a job at the law firm the student has interned with during the regular session.
What are the ways of securing such law internships?
The process of securing an internship at big law firms starts with filling up of an online form that can be accessed through the website of the respective firms where the student desires to take up the internship. After completion of the form, if the student’s CV is shortlisted, they are called for subsequent rounds of interviews or written test as per the organization intern policy.
But, there are other ways of getting an internship in firms as well like, “internship through the respective college internship cell”, “internship through recommendation”, and “internship through various online portals”.
For a more detailed account on all these methods of securing such law internships as well as answers to several more questions like “What experience the students gather  during the internship period with these big law firms?”, “What is the duration of the internship and in what areas they are being offered.?” – visit the ALC Blog page.
